What is the common factor for all companies that are successful? Excellent customer service. And good customer service is based in good self esteem. Customer Service Representatives who have training in self esteem will care about themselves and be aware enough to care about their customers. Customer service is more than a job. It is a skill that can be learned just like any other skill. Trained customer service representatives are a necessity for every business, not a luxury. When you possess high self esteem you think enough of yourself to respect yourself and have the awareness to treat each person with respect. You treat others like they mattered and what they had to say was of importance so that each customer feels like their problem is your most important concern. Whatever the problem is, it's important to that customer, that is why the customer is calling. That is why it is important to you now, and for anyone else representing that company. How hard can customer service be? You answer the phone. You talk to a customer. Answering the phone is a simple task. Talking is simple. Providing excellent customer service is not. It's easy until you get an irate customer on the phone with a problem that can't be solved easily. The phones are ringing, people are yelling, emotions are running high...that's when customer service training is invaluable. In handling customer relations, you can have encounters that are upsetting, unsettling. They can leave you with a negative attitude that you need to separate yourself from so that you are ready and available for your next customer interaction. From the moment you answer the phone, you must disengage yourself from any previous activity, thoughts, feelings, attitude, and then be there 100% for that caller, unbiased by any previous negative encounter. Just how much you let the outside world affect you is something you determine. Will it be you who decides what kind of day you will have, or do you let someone else determine how your day will be? Each time do your best, take responsibility for your reaction - actions, feelings, thoughts, and then let it go.
